Following a highly contended tender process in which the most important construction groups have taken part, the real estate division of Serenissima Sgr has awarded Rizzani de Eccher with the € 110 million contract for the construction of a landmark development named “Portopiccolo” in the bay of Sistiana, near Triest.
Gruppo Valdadige of Verona act as general managers while Anglo-Australian group Bovis Lend Lease will be responsbile for the project management.
The project has finally reached the execution phase after a lengthy and complicated gestation that started in the 80’s. The development covers a seafront area of 35 hectares nestled among one of the most picturesque stretches of the high Adriatic sea. The site, which is currently a disused quarry, will host an exclusive residential and leisure complex complete with a small marina.
“Portopiccolo” will comprise of 400 residential units (including the exclusive seafront villas), 1,220 underground car parks (for residents and visitors), 25 retail units, a 4,000sqm wellness centre & spa, extensive hotel facilities for 120 keys, 11 restaurants and bars, 5 swimming pools, a marina with 100 berths and a 9,600sqm beach resort.
The extensive use of natural stones sourced locally and green roofs, as well as the absence of above ground car parks will ensure that the development blends naturally with the surrounding environment. Furthermore, the project has set ambitious energy-saving targets, which will be achieved through the most advanced technologies and materials and the vast recourse to renewable energy sources such as geothermal power.
Completion of the entire project is set for December 31st 2013.
