During the meeting held on 21 September, the Port Committee of the Port Authority of Trieste expressed their favourable opinion with regard to the granting of a seventy-year sea ownership concession to Portocittà S.r.l. (a special purpose entity shared by Rizzani de Eccher, Gruppo Maltauro, Gruppo Banca Intesa and Sinloc) for most of the areas that fall within the Old Port of Trieste. The project, that is one of the most important examples in Europe of the restoration of disused seaport areas located near the historical centres of a city, includes the creation of two marinas, which will welcome a total of 400 berths, the restoration of the monumental warehouses and the construction of new buildings for offices, commercial activities, accommodation facilities, etc. The project, which will cover over 40 hectares overlooking the Gulf of Trieste, will require an investment of approximately 800 mil Euros.
