Rizzani de Eccher was awarded the “design & build” contract for the construction of the New Hospital Bispebjerg, which will be built in the north of Copenhagen, next to the existing hospital. The new building of 77,500 sqm will accommodate impatient departments, operating theaters, radiology center, clinical departments and a new specialized center for women and pediatrics.
The heart of the new hospital will be the large emergency center and the whole project is designed to provide innovative services and equipment; accessibility, efficiency, flexibility and prevention are the key values at the base of the project, which primarily focuses on the patient and its well-being.
The building process will begin by 2020.
The new hospital will provide assistance to approximately 500.000 citizens of Copenhagen and will be operational in two phases: the first one in 2023, the second one in 2025. The project includes demolition of the existing building dedicated to ER and ancillary activities, which will be moved to the new complex, connected to the rest of the compound through a series of underground tunnels.
Rizzani de Eccher will rely on the experience of Sweco, Creo Arkitekter A/S and ATIProject for the preparation of the executive project. The new hospital will be financed by the Capital Region of Denmark for 225 million Euro.
