The Bridge that crosses the Roskilde fjord, called Princess Mary Bridge, was officially opened by Her Majesty Princess Mary of Denmark on September 28th.
This civil engineering project, which has cost € 133 million, required 33 months of construction and was completed 3 months ahead of schedule.
This is the first project in Denmark for Rizzani de Eccher.
The contract involved the construction of a 8.2km long four-lane highway, including a 1.4km long bridge over the Roskilde Fjord, and 11 minor civil engineering works (bridges, tunnels and wildlife crossings).
The highway and the bridge cross a site that has been declared an EU Natura 2000 area. It is rich in breeding and nesting sites that offer shelter to some of the rarest and endangered species and habitats in Europe.
The project was therefore subject to strict environmental and social requirements, aimed at preserving the beauty and the habitat of the fjord and at minimizing unwanted impacts on the local community.
