The US Green Building Council has awarded LEED Platinum certification to the new Intesa Sanpaolo Headquarters in Turin, designed by architect Renzo Piano and built by Rizzani de Eccher. This is the highest level of certification offered by the Green Building Council, the most distinguished international body for the environmental assessment of buildings.
The new Headquarters, handed over by Rizzani de Eccher to Intesa San Paolo last April, is currently the only skyscraper in Europe to have obtained the LEED Platinum rating in the 'New Construction' category, and one of the first ten worldwide.
The LEED Green Building Rating System assesses a structure's environmental performance throughout its life cycle, providing a definitive benchmark for what constitutes a green building in terms of its design, construction and management, requiring high performance, the most advanced technical solutions, and the highest environmental sustainability standards.
The LEED Platinum certification demonstrates that Rizzani de Eccher and Intesa San Paolo achieved their environmental aims for this project.
